Self Portrait Study

This image took around 7 hours to complete done over two sessions, 3 hours on the face and right hand and then a further 4 spent on the jumper, left hand and chair.

I've been getting rather into digital painting over the past week or so. MyPaint, a free alternative to ArtRage, lets me take any technique I've learned from using pastels, acrylics, watercolour, pencil and use it quite naturally in digital painting.

Biggest challenge was getting subtle enough changes to the colours on the front of the jumper ranging from highlight to burnt-out. It was largely fun, though the last half hour was rather strenuous and I seemed to be making errors and then having to paint over them. As such, I left it here. I don't want the image to look like I was fighting it and this still has some life to it.
